Digital Extras - a Mercedes driver's assistant

The Digital Extras system enables Mercedes owners to activate various remote features, monitor, and manage their vehicles via a smartphone.

Digital Extras connects to vehicles through the Mercedes app. Its features are grouped into categories: comfort, infotainment, safety and service, and navigation.

This digital utility system offers basic features such as a digital key for remote starting and unlocking, remote control of windows and sunroof, vehicle status monitoring, geofencing to track the vehicle within a set radius, and vehicle location.

In Vietnam, a feature of interest to many oto users, especially during hot summers, is the ability to pre-cool the cabin before entering the car. Mercedes vehicles can achieve this with Digital Extras.

The infotainment system in luxury vehicles is also a key selling point. With Digital Extras, news and videos can stream directly to the in-car display, thanks to seamless integration with the MBUX multimedia system, reducing reliance on smartphones.

Owners receive automatic notifications for upcoming maintenance or when parts need replacement. Moreover, drivers can contact the customer support center via voice command or a physical button on the ceiling while driving.

In the event of a collision where airbags deploy, the SOS system automatically activates to call emergency services. For emergencies without a collision, drivers can press the SOS button.

Based on user habits, the system provides recommendations to optimize the experience. It also analyzes driving style to offer fuel-saving tips.

The Digital Extras digital system applies to Mercedes models manufactured from 2021 onwards, equipped with the new-generation MBUX system. A recent trip to Phu Quoc showcased the C-class, E-class, and GLC models assembled in Vietnam, as well as the all-electric G 580. These vehicles provided drivers and passengers with exceptional experiences, supported by Digital Extras.

Remote control of the cabin air conditioning for pre-cooling offers comfort in scorching heat. The navigation system provides sharp 3D maps and real-time traffic updates. Additionally, a 360-degree monitoring system sends emergency notifications with images to a phone if the parked car is hit or illegally moved.

Most basic Digital Extras features are provided without limits, while some are available for a specified duration. Furthermore, the duration and feature packages can vary depending on the vehicle model and equipment. First-time users will need time to familiarize themselves with the technology through setup steps and personalization processes to optimize their experience.
