Jayford Melanio was driving to Olongapo City on 7/8 when he noticed a cement mixer hugging the right shoulder of a winding road in Bataan, Philippines.
A man emerged from the roadside brush, though it was unclear if he had jumped from the cement mixer. Meanwhile, the driver stood on the steps, leaning into the cab, struggling to turn the steering wheel towards a cliff face. He jumped from the vehicle when his efforts proved futile.
Two motorcyclists narrowly avoided a collision as they ascended the curve. The runaway cement mixer then slammed into a parked truck and crashed into a roadside eatery. Part of the eatery’s roof collapsed as the brakeless cement mixer tumbled down the slope.
According to DZRH News, the cement mixer driver and two diners sustained minor injuries. The Land Transportation Office summoned the driver and the registered owner of the cement mixer as part of their investigation.
