Driving school car spun sideways after truck collision on expressway

An unsafe lane change by a driving school car, moving too close to a truck, resulted in it being hit and spun sideways on the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway on 19/4.

On a busy expressway, a driving school car in the right lane traveled parallel to a truck in the left lane. The driving school car suddenly signaled left to change lanes. Without sufficient space to complete the maneuver, the car moved too close to the truck's front passenger wheel. The larger vehicle struck the driving school car, spinning it sideways and pushing it forward. The driving school car sustained heavy damage, and there was no immediate information on casualties.

This incident highlights crucial driving skills. When overtaking, drivers must observe widely and accurately assess if there is enough space ahead to complete the maneuver safely. It is particularly important to avoid cutting in front of a truck too closely, especially on an expressway. Due to their weight and inertia, heavy trucks require a significantly longer braking distance compared to cars.

For driving school vehicles, instructors bear a heightened responsibility to observe and guide students carefully. New drivers often focus primarily on maintaining speed and steering straight, lacking the calmness and experience required to observe their surroundings comprehensively. Therefore, instructors must proactively provide necessary reminders and interventions to ensure safety.
