Five-week-old Florence was being unbuckled by her father, Josh Quaife, from her car seat at the Coles supermarket parking lot in Turramurra, north Sydney. Suddenly, a Lexus reversed at high speed, colliding with their car and 5 other vehicles. The impact threw Florence from her car seat, but fortunately, both father and daughter escaped serious injury.
Quaife recounted, "As I was unbuckling her, I caught a glimpse of the car speeding straight towards me, so I had to jump out of the way."
Witnesses reported seeing the 62-year-old female driver throw a bottle out of her car before the collision. Onlookers then intervened to prevent the woman from leaving the scene.
