A dramatic accident, captured by a roadside camera, shows one half of the car rolling and coming to a stop on the sidewalk. Initially, the half-vehicle was engulfed in flames, but the fire extinguished itself after several rotations.
The driver, 19-year-old Demi Veasley, stated that another car collided with hers, splitting it in two. Fortunately, she sustained only bruises, avoiding severe injury, according to Fox 2.
"The car had no headlights and came out of nowhere, splitting my car in half," Veasley recounted. She was driving her Kia Optima through an intersection in Sterling Heights, Detroit, when the incident occurred.
Veasley vividly recalled the moments after impact: "I just remember screaming, and then my scream faded. I opened my eyes and said, 'Thank God! Thank God!'" She was ejected from the driver's seat, lost consciousness for a few minutes, and then awoke.
"I lost my glasses in the crash, but the first thing I saw was a Taco Bell sign, and that made me feel better because I was still alive," Veasley shared. Remarkably, the driver's side door of her Kia was largely unaffected, showing only a minor crack on the window.
Police reports indicate that the driver of the other vehicle was intoxicated and traveling at 80 mph (128,7 km/h) in a zone with a posted speed limit of 50 mph (80,5 km/h).
