A moment of drowsiness led to a rear-end collision on the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen highway, serving as a stark reminder of the dangers of distracted driving. The incident occurred in the lane closest to the median when the driver, after a sleepless night, failed to react quickly enough to the car ahead braking suddenly. This lapse in concentration, combined with an unsafe following distance, resulted in a minor impact. Fortunately, the driver swerved, preventing a more severe multi-car pile-up.

Despite the collision, the damage was minor, and everyone involved was unharmed. The two parties pulled over at the nearest rest stop to discuss compensation. The estimated repair cost for the damaged vehicle was 1,5 million Vietnamese dong (VND). Following the agreement, the driver decided to remain at the rest stop to fully recover before continuing the journey.
Reflecting on the incident, the driver expressed profound relief that no one was seriously injured, acknowledging it as a costly lesson. The experience underscores the critical importance of vigilance on highways: drivers must always maintain a safe following distance and remain fully focused to ensure their own safety and that of others.
