The accident occurred in Tagore Garden, west Delhi, on the afternoon of 29/7. A man on a motorbike was riding ahead of a car when two electric poles on the right side of the road began to lean. As the car passed, the poles collapsed, sparking like fireworks. At that moment, a woman on a motorbike rode into the path of the falling poles and was struck by one. She was covered in electrical wires.
The victim was trapped and waved for help. Several bystanders quickly rushed to assist, initially hesitant. One man cautiously touched the woman and then recoiled, seemingly checking for electric shock.
Fortunately, the woman sustained only minor injuries. Locals reported other similarly old and dangerous poles in the area.
This incident is not the first time weak infrastructure has endangered lives. In 2024, a boundary wall surrounding the Gokulpuri metro station in Delhi collapsed onto the road. A 53-year-old man was killed, and another person was trapped under the debris until rescued.
