Ford's best-selling model offers a full registration fee discount for both the Sport and Wildtrak versions. With prices of 864 million VND and 979 million VND respectively, the discount is equivalent to nearly 52 million VND and 60 million VND. The current registration fee for pickup trucks is 6%.
The two Ford Ranger XLS 4x2 and 4x4 versions, and the most expensive variant, the Raptor, have a 50% registration fee discount. The discount is equivalent to about 20-39 million VND depending on the version.

As the best-selling model in its segment, the Ford Ranger's discounts also put pressure on competitors. In August, dealerships are offering a 50% registration fee support for some versions of the Mitsubishi Triton. The corresponding discount is around 20-35 million VND.
Dealerships are also offering incentives for the lower versions of the Nissan Navara with a 50% registration fee discount. This reduces the on-the-road cost by about 20-21 million VND.
The pickup truck segment in Vietnam is almost exclusively dominated by the Ford Ranger. For many years, the Ford model has held more than half of the market share. In the first half of 2025, 7,785 Rangers were sold, accounting for nearly 69% of the market share.
The Ranger's dominance is due to its attractive design, diverse versions, performance, and brand value. While all competitors are imported from Thailand, the Ranger is distributed both as assembled and imported units. It boasts the most versions and variants.
In contrast to the Ford Ranger's outstanding sales figures, the Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, and Isuzu D-Max are struggling. These models sold less than 2,000 units in the first six months of the year.
The Mazda BT-50 is another option in the Vietnamese pickup truck segment, but distributor Truong Hai stopped importing the vehicle in 5/2024. The Nissan Navara is another choice, but the company does not publish sales figures.
