The Maextro S800 can move diagonally thanks to a 4-wheel steering feature that allows the rear wheels to mimic the steering angle of the front wheels. According to the manufacturer, the maximum turning angle of the rear wheels reaches 16 degrees.
For comparison, the rear wheels of a Mercedes S-class can turn a maximum of 10 degrees, and the Rolls-Royce Ghost has a rear wheel turning angle of 5 degrees.
With a vehicle length of 5,480 mm, the Maextro S800 has a standard turning radius of 5,05 m. However, thanks to its advanced steering system, it can achieve a significantly smaller turning radius of 3,8 m in a special mode.

This special steering system, which enables cars to move diagonally or sideways, has been adopted by other manufacturers such as Mercedes G550, GMC Hummer EV, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Geely EX5. This feature helps reduce the turning radius and increases agility in confined spaces. However, the technology also carries risks and drawbacks.
The system involves many mechanical and electronic components, leading to higher costs compared to traditional systems and increasing complexity, which in turn raises the risk of malfunctions. Some users believe that the "crab walk" mode is more of an appealing demonstration than a practical benefit in most daily driving situations. Others are concerned that adding steering mechanisms could misalign wheel toe settings, leading to uneven tire wear, steering misalignment, and affecting grip if the mechanism is not precise.
