According to the first quarter sales report from the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), motorcycle sales in the Vietnam market reached 729.121 vehicles, a slight increase of 8,3% compared to the 673.055 units in the first quarter of 2025.
VAMM comprises five members: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, SYM, and Piaggio (including the brands Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi). These companies currently distribute a total of 108 products to the market, with 106 being gasoline models and only two electric models (Honda ICON e: and Yamaha Neo's).
Before VinFast's emergence, VAMM's sales represented the entire Vietnam motorcycle market. However, in the current market, VAMM primarily represents the gasoline motorcycle business in Vietnam.

This growth is a positive sign for the gasoline motorcycle segment, especially as the Vietnam motorcycle market has faced saturation in recent years and increasing competition from the shift towards electric motorcycles.
Commenting on the 8,3% growth in the gasoline segment despite the strong development of electric motorcycles, a motorcycle sales expert with over 20 years of experience stated that general users still require vehicles that don't necessitate charging concerns and can be refueled instantly. A representative from a Japanese motorcycle dealership mentioned that many customers purchase gasoline motorcycles alongside an electric motorcycle to ensure usability at any time, independent of state regulations.
The expert also suggested that Ha Noi's phased ban on gasoline vehicles might not hinder the gasoline segment but could instead stimulate the market for both gasoline and electric vehicles to develop in parallel.
In the electric motorcycle segment, VinFast recently recorded over 135.000 orders and delivered more than 93.000 electric motorcycles in march, marking its highest output to date.
