On 16/7, Chinese automaker Geely launched its first all-electric vehicle, the EX5, in Vietnam. The C-segment crossover is priced between 839 and 899 million VND and is imported from China.
The EX5 features a modern, sleek, and neutral design. The front end is compact and smooth, with a minimalist aesthetic. Notable features include daytime running lights that contour the front bumper, narrow headlights, and taillights that stretch across the rear.

The EX5's interior has minimal buttons and a large 15.4-inch infotainment screen with 2.5K resolution, complemented by a 10.2-inch driver display. The steering wheel has a distinctive two-spoke design with a sporty flat bottom.
Standard features include power-adjustable driver's seat, heated and ventilated front seats, automatic climate control with air filtration, and voice control. The premium version adds features like a Flyme sound system, massage function for the driver's seat, power-adjustable passenger seat, anti-glare rearview mirror, and interior ambient lighting.
As a C-segment SUV, the EX5 measures 4,615 mm in length, 1,901 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. This makes it larger than the B+ segment BYD Atto 3, which measures 4,455 x 1,875 x 1,615 mm. The EX5’s wheelbase is 30 mm longer than the Atto 3’s.
The EX5 is equipped with a 214-horsepower electric motor generating 320 Nm of torque. Its 60.22 kWh LFP battery pack provides a range of 430 km on a single charge and supports DC fast charging from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, lane keeping assist, lane change assist, and traffic sign recognition. The premium version offers additional advanced safety features.
The EX5 is available in two versions: the Pro at 839 million VND and the Max at 899 million VND. Like other electric vehicles on the market, the EX5 relies entirely on third-party charging networks. Its near-900 million VND price tag in the C-segment doesn't give it a competitive edge, potentially making it harder to attract customers compared to other segments. Currently, the Vietnamese electric vehicle market sees the most success in smaller segments, particularly crossovers and MPVs.
