The incident occurred when a girl was operating a motorbike at a considerable speed without properly fastening her helmet strap. As her helmet flew off her head and fell behind her, she suddenly braked directly in front of a car that was following, creating a dangerous situation.

Riding safety: Motorcyclists should never wear helmets merely for compliance. Helmet straps must be securely fastened and fit snugly around the head. This prevents the helmet from flying off in strong winds or during a collision. Use a helmet that is the correct size to prevent it from shifting, tilting, or flipping backward while riding if it is too loose.

Furthermore, if belongings, helmets, or clothing fall, remain calm and avoid taking your hands off the handlebars to retrieve them. Do not brake suddenly in the middle of the road when other vehicles are directly behind you. Riders should check their rearview mirrors, activate turn signals, gradually reduce speed, and steer the vehicle to the right side of the road before addressing the issue.

Decree 168/2024 stipulates that motorcyclists or passengers wearing helmets improperly (such as not fastening the strap, fastening it incorrectly, or wearing a non-standard helmet) face fines of 400,000-600,000 dong.
