India's Minister of Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari, announced on 11/1 that a highway project in Andhra Pradesh state achieved Guinness World Record certification. The record was for the longest continuous stretch of concrete asphalt paving completed within 24 hours.
The record was set on 6/1 on the Vanavolu–Vankarakunta section of National Highway NH-544G, which forms part of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor. According to the certification, construction teams paved a total of 28,95 km of asphalt road in one day.

While the actual road section extends 9,65 km, its three lanes meant the total distance paved was calculated as 28,95 km. Additionally, the 10.675 tons of material used also set a record for quantity within 24 hours.
Officials confirmed that construction teams adhered to standard supervision and quality procedures during the paving process. Observers from Guinness World Records meticulously verified compliance with all necessary requirements.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) attributed this achievement to the strategic deployment of modern construction equipment and machinery. This included 70 dump trucks, 5 hot mix plants, one paver, and 17 road rollers, all working in coordination.
This latest accomplishment follows a previous record set in 6/2022. During that time, over 720 Indian workers labored around the clock to pave 75 km of asphalt concrete on a road in 105 hours 33 minutes. That particular road also measured 37,5 km in actual length but featured two lanes.
