According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2025 automotive trends report, Honda stands out as the most fuel-efficient manufacturer, even for brands not solely selling electric vehicles (EVs). Its entire vehicle lineup achieves an average fuel consumption of 7,58 liters/100 km.

Based on 2024 data, the industry's average fuel consumption stood at 8,65 liters/100 km. Honda and seven other brands surpassed this average. Two South Korean automakers secured the second and third positions: Hyundai with 7,89 liters/100 km and Kia with 8,05 liters/100 km.
BMW, Nissan, and Toyota shared the fourth position, each achieving an average fuel consumption of 8,11 liters/100 km across their respective lineups. They were followed by Subaru at 8,19 liters/100 km and Mazda at 8,4 liters/100 km.
Conversely, automakers with fuel consumption below the industry average included Volkswagen at 8,87 liters/100 km, Mercedes at 9 liters/100 km, Ford at 10,05 liters/100 km, and General Motors at 10,27 liters/100 km.

The EPA noted that over the five-year period from 2019 to 2024, Honda significantly improved its fuel consumption from 8,13 liters/100 km. When excluding electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), the improvement was even more pronounced, reaching 7,81 liters/100 km for 2024, down from the previous 8,17 liters/100 km. Toyota also recorded a notable improvement from its prior average of 9,11 liters/100 km.
