Kia has revealed the specifications for the 2026 European version of the EV5. The electric crossover first debuted two years ago in China.
Developed specifically for the European market, the new EV5 utilizes an 81.4 kWh NMC (nickel, manganese, and cobalt) battery, providing a range of 529 km. The EV5's new battery supports 120 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes.

The new EV5 initially offers a single powertrain option, featuring a front-mounted electric motor producing 215 horsepower and 295 Nm of torque. Tests indicate a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.4 seconds. A high-performance GT version will be added to the lineup in 2026, according to Kia.
The electric crossover's interior boasts dual 12.3-inch screens (instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen). A 5.3-inch touchscreen controls the climate system. The front features two individual seats, unlike the bench seat in the Chinese version, and a larger center console.
The European-market EV5 will be manufactured at Kia's plant in South Korea instead of China, avoiding European Union tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles.
Kia plans to start production of the EV5 by the end of 2025, with pricing to be announced closer to the launch date. In the European market, the EV5 will compete with the Tesla Model Y.
