At the beginning of July, Mazda dealerships offered a direct discount of 15 million VND for the B-segment sedan Mazda2, bringing its starting price to just over 400 million VND.

Specifically, the lowest version, the 1.5 AT, is 403 million VND (a 15 million VND reduction). The remaining versions have smaller discounts: the 1.5 Deluxe is 453 million VND (down 6 million VND), the 1.5 Luxury is 487 million VND (down 7 million VND), and the hatchback Sport Luxury is 529 million VND (down 8 million VND). The discounted cars are all 2025 models and are readily available at dealerships.
This price reduction for Mazda's smallest model in the Vietnamese market has brought the Mazda2's starting price below some A-segment cars, such as the mid-range Hyundai i10 1.2 AT Standard at 405 million VND, or the top-of-the-line Toyota Wigo G, also at 405 million VND. However, the Mazda2's starting price remains in the middle of its segment, lower than the top three models: the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City, but higher than the Mitsubishi Attrage and Kia Soluto.
In May, the Mazda2 surpassed the Honda City in monthly sales for the first time in 2025. 439 Mazda2 units were delivered to customers, ranking it 3rd, while the City only reached 308 units. During the first 5 months of the year, Mazda2 sales were the most stable in the segment, neither surging nor declining significantly. Cumulatively, in the first 5 months, the Mazda2 has sold nearly 2,000 units, equivalent to over 14% of the segment's market share. Thaco, the assembler and distributor of Mazda products in Vietnam, is striving to boost the Mazda2's growth in the segment and close the gap with its leading competitors.
The sedan market in Vietnam has been declining in recent years, as customer preferences have shifted away from small to large sedans. Instead, SUVs and electric vehicles have become more popular. However, B-segment sedans still hold a place in the sedan segment, maintaining a stable customer base due to their affordability and suitability for various needs, from business to family use.
