Mitsubishi Motors is officially introducing the Destinator to the Vietnamese market, a few months after its global debut in Indonesia. This new 7-seat SUV is imported directly from Indonesia.
Since mid-October, numerous Mitsubishi dealers have been accepting pre-orders for the Destinator, offering incentives of up to 33 million VND, which are not convertible to cash. However, the precise pricing and specific versions have yet to be disclosed. Deliveries are expected to begin after tomorrow's launch event. Prior to this, the first batches of Destinator vehicles arrived in Vietnam in August for test drives and registration purposes.

Launching in the final month of the year, the Destinator is poised to capitalize on the significant car-buying season leading up to the Tet holiday, offering consumers a fresh choice in the SUV segment. Its exterior showcases the Dynamic Shield design language, featuring a multi-layered grille with a distinctive honeycomb pattern, all encased beneath a clear acrylic layer. The rear design incorporates the Hexaguard Horizon philosophy, with hexagonal motifs inspired by the spare tires of the legendary Pajero models. It is equipped with T-shaped LED taillights.
The Mitsubishi Destinator offers a true 7-seat configuration, distinguishing it from 5+2 setups. Its dimensions are 4,680 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. It boasts a turning radius of 5,4 m. The overall design exudes a robust SUV character, complemented by a class-leading 214 mm ground clearance and 18-inch wheels.

The interior features three rows of seating, providing ample space for seven occupants. The Japanese automaker has designed the cabin for flexibility, optimizing space for additional luggage and integrating smart amenities at each seating position. Key interior highlights include a 12,3-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch LCD driver display. The high-end version will be equipped with a Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium speaker system.
The Destinator is powered by a 1,5-liter MIVEC turbocharged engine, delivering 161 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque, paired with a CVT transmission. The vehicle offers five driving modes: normal, wet, mud, gravel, and tarmac. Notably, the tarmac driving mode is a new addition for Mitsubishi, promising a sportier driving experience on highways and mountain passes, and assisting drivers with effective overtaking.
