A serious traffic incident occurred near Thai Ha Bridge on 13/2 when a motorbike, traveling against traffic at a roundabout, collided with a pickup truck moving in the correct direction at high speed. The impact threw two individuals from the motorbike onto the road, and the vehicle sustained heavy damage. The pickup truck stopped nearby following the collision. The extent of injuries to the motorbike riders is currently unknown.

Navigating roundabouts requires drivers to adhere to proper lanes, follow the correct direction, and reduce speed to observe crossing traffic. Traveling against traffic is illegal and dangerous, surprising other vehicles and significantly increasing the risk of serious collisions. For car drivers, especially those operating larger vehicles like pickup trucks, it is essential to proactively reduce speed when entering a roundabout, maintain a safe distance, and be prepared for unexpected situations to minimize consequences should an incident occur.

Under Decree 168/2024, motorbikes traveling against traffic face a fine of 4-6 million VND and a deduction of 2 points from their driver's license. If this violation causes an accident, the penalty increases to a fine of 10-14 million VND and a deduction of 10 points.
