The incident occurred on the afternoon of 6/9 at a congested intersection on Provincial Road 825 in Long An ward. A container truck was moving slowly through traffic when a motorcyclist suddenly cut across from the right, riding close to the front of the truck and attempting to squeeze through a narrow gap near the median.
Because the motorcycle was in the truck's blind spot, the truck driver continued forward, unaware of the motorcyclist's presence, leading to the collision. The motorcycle was pulled under the truck, but the rider thankfully managed to escape without injury. Following the incident, the motorcyclist argued with the truck driver and took photos of the scene.
When approaching intersections, all vehicles should slow down and carefully observe traffic, avoiding weaving or jostling that could cause congestion. Motorcyclists should not ride too close to cars, especially large vehicles like container trucks, as they risk entering blind spots and creating hazardous situations. Drivers of large vehicles should check their blind spots thoroughly before moving or changing direction.
According to Decree 168/2024 on traffic violations, motorcyclists who make improper turns and cause accidents can face fines of 10-14 million VND and a deduction of 10 points from their driver's license.
