Near miss on highway as car recklessly changes lanes

A car narrowly avoided a collision after abruptly stopping and cutting across lanes on the CT01 highway on 26/7.

Video: Dang Long

A white car nearly caused an accident on the CT01 highway (TP HCM - Trung Luong) near the Nhon Trach exit (Dong Nai) on the afternoon of 26/7. The car, traveling in the left lane, missed its intended exit. The driver then braked suddenly and recklessly changed lanes, crossing the chevron markings and cutting off the vehicle with the dashcam. Fortunately, the drivers behind were able to brake in time, preventing a collision.

Drivers should pay close attention to road signs and proactively change lanes well in advance of their desired highway exit. If an exit is missed, drivers should proceed to the next exit. Making a U-turn or crossing chevron markings, as the white sedan did in the video, is prohibited.

Traffic regulations stipulate that lane changes must be performed safely, ensuring adequate distance from vehicles in front, behind, and on both sides. The driver of the white sedan clearly violated this rule by changing lanes too close to the trailing vehicle.

According to Decree 168/2024 regarding traffic violations, improper lane changes result in fines of 600,000-800,000 VND, while crossing chevron markings carries a penalty of 400,000-600,000 VND. If such actions lead to an accident, the fine increases to 20-22 million VND, along with a 10-point deduction from the driver's license.
