New generation Audi A5 greets Vietnamese customers, priced at 2.199 billion VND

The new generation luxury sedan makes its market debut, equipped with a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine, a technology-rich interior, and numerous safety features.

At the Q6 e-tron launch event in Hanoi on 4/7, Audi's authorized importer also introduced the new generation A5. The A5 showcased at the event was a temporarily imported vehicle. Commercial units are en route to Vietnam, expected to arrive in September.

The new generation A5 will be sold in Vietnam as a single S line version, priced at 2.199 billion VND, featuring more equipment than the temporarily imported model.

The A5 debuted globally in July 2024, replacing the A4. According to the German automaker's new naming convention, odd-numbered models will be petrol-powered, while even-numbered models will be electric. Therefore, the Audi A5 will assume the role of the A4, and the new generation A4 will be exclusively electric.

The A4 was discontinued due to criticism of its bland appearance compared to rivals like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. The A5 launches with sedan and wagon body styles, replacing the A4 Sedan, Avant, and A5 Sportback. Additionally, the S5 version will be the high-performance A5.

The overall design of the 2025 A5 embodies a coupe style. Its exterior is bolder with wider front fenders. The signature Audi single-frame grille is enlarged and positioned lower. The hood features sculpted lines for a muscular appearance. The car is equipped with Matrix LED headlights and new customizable LED taillights.

Flush door handles improve aerodynamics. The A5 is also the first model to utilize the new PPC (Premium Platform Combustion), an upgraded version of the MLB Evo platform. Its wheelbase measures 2,900 mm, 71 mm longer than the A4.

The interior of the new generation A5 is filled with digital technology, featuring the panoramic MMI display, which integrates a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit plus digital instrument cluster. Like the Q6 e-tron, the new A5 also includes a 10.9-inch passenger-side display for navigation and entertainment.

Other amenities in the 2025 A5 include 3-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 10-speaker sound system, and a panoramic sunroof that easily switches from transparent to opaque. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The German luxury carmaker equips the new generation A5 with a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine producing 196 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque from 2,000-4,000 rpm. A 7-speed S-tronic transmission is paired with front-wheel drive. In tests, the A5 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 248 km/h.

Audi's mid-size sedan employs numerous ADAS driver-assistance technologies such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic parking assist, front cross traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, exit warning, and a 360-degree camera.

The Audi A5 will compete with the BMW 3 Series (priced at 1.899-2.499 billion VND) and the Mercedes C-Class (priced at 1.709-2.399 billion VND). The A5 is at a disadvantage compared to its rivals, offering only one version, while the 3 Series offers three and the C-Class offers four.
