The new CX-5 inherits several design cues from its larger sibling, the CX-90. While the overall shape remains similar, the headlights now curve into the grille, reminiscent of the discontinued Mercedes EQC. The signature grille retains its shape but features a new pattern and thinner chrome accents.
Black plastic cladding around the wheel arches adds a muscular touch. While rear images haven't been fully revealed, earlier spy photos suggest slimmer LED taillights, similar to those on BMW concept cars, along with a pair of exposed exhaust pipes.
According to Carscoops, the new CX-5 will have a redesigned interior with higher-quality materials and a larger infotainment screen borrowed from the CX-90. The new generation crossover will also have increased dimensions.
Mazda has confirmed the new CX-5 will offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain option and a new SkyActiv-Z engine.
The current CX-5, on sale in the US market since 2016, is finally getting a new generation after 9 years. It competes with rivals such as the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Subaru Forester, all of which offer hybrid powertrains.
Pricing for the new generation Mazda CX-5 will be announced at its official launch on 10/7.
In Vietnam, the Mazda CX-5 is officially distributed. Locally assembled, it's available in 7 versions, priced between 749 and 979 million Vietnamese dong. The CX-5 is also the best-selling model in its segment. In the first five months of 2025, Mazda delivered 5,884 units of the C-segment SUV, while the Ford Territory came in second with 4,521 units sold.
