The Toyota Hilux Trailhunter is powered by a 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine, delivering 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. It pairs with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD system. This variant features a multi-terrain select (MTS) system, allowing drivers to navigate various conditions such as mud, sand, dirt, and rocks. According to the manufacturer, in rock and dirt modes, the vehicle optimizes traction on unstable surfaces.
The electronic transfer case system has also been refined with a lever-style selector offering three modes: 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4H (four-wheel drive high), and 4L (four-wheel drive low). Other features supporting multi-terrain travel include a rear differential lock, traction control, downhill assist control, and hill-start assist control. This Hilux variant now uses electric power steering, replacing the hydraulic system found in previous versions.

A representative from Toyota Vietnam stated that customers viewing the vehicle at dealerships highly appreciate the pickup's new design. The exterior highlights include a 3D grille, modern LED strips, and daytime running lights. It features new 18-inch wheels, along with side cladding and a hood scoop, embodying an offroad style. Additionally, the logo has been replaced with "Toyota" lettering.
The Hilux Trailhunter's interior shares many similarities with the premium SUV Land Cruiser Prado. Notable features include: an air purifier, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and a touchscreen display with smartphone connectivity. Duy Long (35, Thanh Hoa province), one of the first owners of the Hilux Trailhunter, expressed high appreciation for the vehicle's suspension system, design, and safety features.

"I recently completed a 1,300 km road trip during Tet with the Hilux Trailhunter. The vehicle is smoother than the previous generation, and the steering wheel is lighter," he said. "The higher ground clearance makes the new-generation Hilux look more substantial than before, and safety technologies like pre-collision warning, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams also supported my early-year spring trip."
The new-generation Toyota Hilux is imported from Thailand and is available in three variants: Standard, Pro, and Trailhunter, priced from 632-903 million VND, including VAT.
