The incident occurred when the pickup truck driver navigated a curve at high speed on a road wet from recent rain. The driver showed no signs of returning to the correct lane, despite an oncoming truck properly driving in its lane. Drivers must exercise caution on slippery roads, especially when approaching curves. It is crucial to reduce speed, expand the field of vision, maintain the correct lane, and avoid overtaking in blind spots to prevent loss of vehicle control. Additionally, maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead allows for proactive handling in unexpected situations.
According to Decree 168/2024, a vehicle overtaking in a prohibited area will incur a fine of 4-6 million VND and a deduction of two points from the driver's license. If incorrect overtaking causes an accident, the penalty increases to 18-20 million VND, along with a deduction of 10 points from the driver's license.
