Reckless lane change: passenger bus collides with tractor-trailer

A passenger bus attempted to squeeze into a narrow gap between a tractor-trailer and a vehicle ahead to overtake, resulting in a collision on 18/12/2024 on road 5 in Van Lam.

Video: CTV

The passenger bus sped up, attempting to overtake a tractor-trailer. However, before establishing a safe distance, the bus swerved to change lanes. Its rear section collided forcefully with the front of the tractor-trailer, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the accident.

Drivers must ensure sufficient safe distance when changing lanes, in addition to signaling. Passenger buses, carrying numerous individuals, require an even higher standard of safety during transit. According to Decree 168/2024 on sanctioning road traffic violations, an improper lane change that causes a traffic accident carries a fine of 20-22 million VND and a deduction of 10 points from the driver's license.
