The car of the year 2025 award for the popular MPV segment features only three nominations: VinFast Limo Green, Mitsubishi Xpander, and MG G50. Limo Green and G50 are new entrants, while the Xpander has been a bestseller in the MPV segment for many years.

The Limo Green is VinFast's first all-electric compact popular MPV. It launched in the Vietnamese market in early march and deliveries to customers began in early august. The vehicle is sold in one version, equipped with one electric motor, a 60,13 kWh battery pack, and a range of 450 km.
The Limo Green's exterior design is neutral and not overly striking, making it an easily acceptable design. As a service-oriented vehicle, an impressive appearance is not a primary requirement.
Its interior features a three-row, seven-seat configuration. The minimalist interior design and finish quality are decent compared to other VinFast models. The second-row seats can slide forward or backward, or fold flat. The third row accommodates adults up to 1,7 m tall with adequate, though not overly generous, legroom and ample headroom. The Limo Green's safety features are standard.

Mitsubishi's popular Xpander MPV launched its new version in late september. The Xpander 2025 continues to be assembled domestically and is sold in four versions. The new version features design upgrades focused on the two top-tier versions, along with added technology and enhanced safety features.
The Xpander 2025's exterior has a more aggressive style. The interior received minor upgrades, including a new 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger infotainment screen than the previous version. Additional safety features include an active cornering control system.
The Xpander 2025 retains the same engine as its predecessor: a 1.5 MIVEC unit producing 104 horsepower, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive.

The MG G50 popular MPV debuted in the Vietnamese market in late march. Imported from China, it is sold in three versions. The manufacturer positions the G50 as a mid-size MPV, but its pricing competes with compact models.
The G50's exterior styling features a fluid design at the front that gradually becomes more angular and boxy towards the rear. The interior design is minimalist to maximize cost reduction.
All G50 models are equipped with a 1.5 turbocharged gasoline engine producing 169 horsepower, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed wet-clutch automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive. The vehicle comes with standard safety features.
