On 17/12, a van picking up tourists at a rest stop on a steep mountain road in Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh state, India, suddenly began to roll backward. The passengers, all women, panicked and jumped from the moving vehicle. At least four people managed to escape, with one reportedly sliding down a cliff face during the incident.

Fortunately, the vehicle eventually came to a stop after colliding with a tree. While those who jumped from the van sustained injuries, none were life-threatening. No other casualties were reported in connection with the accident.

According to witnesses, the driver had just exited the vehicle when it began to roll backward, likely due to the parking brake not being properly engaged. Local authorities have stated that the incident is currently under investigation, and appropriate action will be taken if any negligence on the part of the driver is discovered.
