According to Cartoq, the incident took place at a fair in Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh state, on 28/7. After the rider fell, the motorcycle continued circling the wall. Above, spectators ducked, fearing the motorcycle might fly out, or peered down to check on the fallen rider.
Spectators were then asked to leave quickly for safety. The motorcycle ran for almost an hour. Two cars were parked at the bottom of the well and another person attempted to pull the fallen rider to safety between them. Fortunately, the rider sustained only minor injuries.
The "well of death" or "wall of death" is a daredevil stunt show often seen at fairs and traditional festivals. Performers on motorcycles, and sometimes cars, speed around the inner wall of a large vertical cylinder. Centrifugal force keeps the vehicles pressed against the nearly vertical surface, creating a gravity-defying illusion that both thrills and amazes the audience.
In Vietnam, around the 1980s, the well of death also appeared at local fairs when many circus troupes toured the provinces, a childhood memory for many, familiarly known as "flying motorcycle."
