‘Swap gasoline for electric’ program attracts drivers

Drivers receive double incentives when upgrading to the MPV Limo Green, with a 15 million VND discount, at the "Trade in gasoline, upgrade to electric" event at Vinhomes Global Gate.

GSM, Green Future (GF), and VinFast hosted the "Green Day – Trade in gasoline, upgrade to electric" event series at Vinhomes Global Gate Co Loa, Hanoi, starting 29/7. The event offered a range of incentives to attract Hanoi residents, especially drivers. According to the organizers, this large-scale, weekly event series specifically targets drivers and is expected to become a "gasoline trade-in and electric upgrade center" in Hanoi and surrounding areas.

Since the morning of 29/7, many people have brought their old vehicles to the event for appraisal and on-site electric vehicle upgrades. Attendees received financial advice and answers to questions about vehicle financing, interest rates, repayment terms, and trade-in incentives.

Under the "Strong Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future" program's third phase, all VinFast electric vehicle buyers will receive a 4% discount on the listed price. Those trading in any gasoline-powered vehicle will receive an additional 15 million VND for the 7-seat MPV Limo Green and 9.5 million VND for the A-SUV Herio Green.

With GSM's incentive program, drivers purchasing VinFast electric vehicles to operate on the Xanh SM Platform can finance up to 90% of the vehicle's value at an interest rate up to 4% lower than the market rate for the first three years. GSM also shares up to 90% of revenue for the first three years – the highest rate in the current ride-hailing app market.

At the event, attendees could also place deposits on various VinFast electric cars and motorbikes. In addition to new vehicles, GF is also buying used gasoline cars and accepting deposits for used VF 8 electric vehicles. These "GF Certified" vehicles undergo a rigorous 139-step quality inspection and are categorized into three grades: Signature, Selected, and Standard, allowing customers to choose based on their needs and budget. Trading in a gasoline car for a used VF 8 grants owners a discount of up to 70 million VND.

Tran Van Tuan, 36, a ride-hailing driver in Hanoi, said he came to the event to learn about the all-electric VinFast MPV Limo Green. "I saw there were many incentives and bank loan consultations, so I came to see the car in person. Driving an electric car is economical, and since I drive a lot for work, I don't have to worry about maintenance and oil changes like with a gasoline car," he said. "If I register with Xanh SM Platform for long-distance driving, the Limo Green is a suitable model."

At the event, Le Hong Hanh, a driver from Gia Lam (Hanoi), traded in her old gasoline car for a Herio Green. "Thanks to the financing program and the direct discounts, I only needed a 46.9 million VND down payment to receive the car. The staff assisted me with the procedures at the event, and GSM also let me receive the car early to operate on the Xanh SM Platform," she said.

In addition to electric cars, many attendees also inquired about and placed deposits on the newly launched Evo Grand electric motorbike. This upgraded model from VinFast features a dual-battery design, with one removable battery, providing a range of up to 262 km on a single charge. Priced from 21 million VND, this electric motorbike is optimized for drivers.

Financing options are also available for electric motorbikes. Drivers with permanent or temporary residence in Hanoi can receive a vehicle with zero down payment. VinFast offers a 10% discount on the vehicle price, and the remaining 90% can be financed through banks and VinFast's partners. From 24/7 to 24/10, VinFast is covering 100% of the registration fee for drivers registering their vehicles in Hanoi.

"These practical solutions make it easier for users to upgrade to electric motorbikes, especially for drivers and users living and working in the capital," an attendee said.

Beyond Hanoi, the event series organized by GSM, Green Future (GF), and VinFast will begin weekly events in Ho Chi Minh City starting 30/7. The series is then expected to expand to other provinces and cities nationwide.
