On the afternoon of 22/7, traffic flowed along a road nestled against a mountain in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. Footage captured by a resident's camera revealed that rocks and debris had already fallen, partially obstructing the lane closest to the mountain. Cones had been placed to warn drivers of the hazard.

A fuel tanker approached the area. The driver honked and momentarily stopped as small stones tumbled down. The truck quickly continued, and just as it cleared the area, large boulders and mud cascaded onto the road, completely burying the spot where the tanker had been seconds before.

According to Sohu, local authorities reported no casualties. The road was temporarily closed and reopened the next day after the debris was cleared.
