In a survey of 3,002 drivers across the US, the insurance website Insurify found that 42% had used AI assistants to help them search for car insurance. Furthermore, 86% of Americans trust AI to guide them throughout the insurance purchase process.
This technology is particularly popular for comparing quotes from various insurance companies, with 76% of respondents using AI for this specific task.
It is not surprising that younger car owners tend to trust AI more to help them find optimal insurance. Approximately 60% of Gen Z drivers have turned to AI when buying car insurance, compared to just 20% of baby boomers.
This discrepancy highlights a significant difference in comfort levels regarding trusting software for financial decisions.

The percentage of car owners utilizing AI for insurance purchases also varies by state, ranging from a high of 55% in California to a lower 34% in Illinois.
AI proves beneficial not only in finding quotes but also in securing insurance policies. According to Insurify data, 39% of drivers would permit AI to finalize an insurance contract if it led to cheaper premiums. When the potential savings increased to USD 1,000, that figure surged to 68%, indicating a rapid increase in trust when the calculations favor drivers.
The research also revealed that 52% of Americans believe AI assistants can compare insurance quotes more effectively than agents, and 42% of Gen Z perceive AI as capable of handling customer service better than an agent.
However, confidence in artificial intelligence diminishes when considering the approval or rejection of claims and determining fault in an accident. The survey indicated that 40% trust AI to approve or reject claims, while 38% trust AI in identifying the at-fault party.
This suggests that despite growing enthusiasm for AI's convenience, many Americans still prefer human involvement when outcomes are truly significant.
