Toyota Vietnam recently announced a recall program affecting a total of 7,579 Toyota and Lexus vehicles. The recall aims to update the dashboard display control software after a defect was identified that could prevent the screen from illuminating when the ignition is turned on. This 12.3-inch digital display provides critical information such as speed, warnings, and other vital operational data. If the screen fails to function, drivers risk missing essential safety alerts, thereby increasing the likelihood of an accident.
The affected vehicles span several models, including the Alphard, Camry, Corolla, Corolla Cross, as well as Lexus LM and LS models. These vehicles were manufactured between June 2023 and May 2025. The Corolla Cross accounts for the largest portion of the recall, with over 5,100 units. All vehicles will receive a free inspection and software update at Toyota and Lexus dealerships nationwide. The estimated repair time for each vehicle is between 1.9 and 2.7 hours.

Toyota states it will proactively contact customers whose vehicles are impacted by this recall. Owners can also verify if their vehicle is affected by checking the VIN number on the company's website or by contacting their local dealership directly. For unofficially imported vehicles, Toyota Vietnam will still provide update support after specific information verification. The company advises customers to bring their vehicles to a dealership promptly to ensure safe operation.
A representative from Toyota Vietnam explained that this recall program underscores the company's commitment to user safety and product quality. According to the company, this is a necessary step to ensure an optimal driving experience for Vietnamese drivers, particularly as the number of vehicles equipped with digital screens has grown in recent years.
