On 16/6 in Lien Minh, Vu Ban, a traffic incident unfolded. Two motorcyclists, traveling in the same direction, collided and fell. Before they could recover, a tractor-trailer rapidly approached from the opposite lane. The vehicle initially showed no sign of braking. Only at the last second did the driver swerve right to avoid the fallen individuals, then immediately veered left. The trailer, operating on a wet road, was flung from side to side. Fortunately, no further collision occurred.
Driving on national highways demands adherence to speed limits and vigilance, particularly for operators of large vehicles. These vehicles require longer braking distances when encountering obstacles. Experts from Car Awards noted the tractor-trailer driver failed to reduce speed after the motorcyclists had fallen. This late reaction, combined with sharp steering on a slippery surface, led to the vehicle losing control. As the truck was not carrying cargo, its inertia was lower. Had the driver observed earlier, they could have applied braking and gently steered to change lanes, preventing the near-miss.
Another incident highlighting the dangers of inattentive driving occurred on 6/6 in Dak Lak.
