On the morning of 2/8, a traffic accident occurred on Vo Nguyen Giap Street towards Noi Bai. A truck traveling in the left lane close to the median suddenly veered into the right lane. A small hatchback driving alongside was struck in the rear by the truck. The impact sent the car spinning into the median, causing it to flip over. The truck stopped in the emergency lane after the accident. The extent of injuries or fatalities is unknown.

Safe lane changes require checking surrounding vehicles and blind spots, only merging when it's safe, especially for large trucks. Decree 168/2024 on Road Traffic Violations imposes a fine of 20-22 million VND and a 10-point license deduction for unsafe lane changes causing accidents.

Car drivers should be prepared to accelerate or brake when trucks or container trucks approach from the side or rear to maintain a safe distance.
