On 23/4, two young women in Nghia Lo narrowly escaped serious injury when a speeding motorbike, ridden by two helmet-less youths, lost control and crashed into another motorbike. The incident occurred on Hoa Ban street in Nghia Lo town. The quick-thinking women, who were preparing to push their own motorbike, reacted instantly, running to safety just before the collision. Fortunately, neither sustained injuries. Following the crash, the two youths responsible immediately fled the scene. Local residents attempted to pursue them but were unsuccessful.
This incident highlights the importance of road safety, particularly in residential areas and around blind turns. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, maintain stable control, and be vigilant of their surroundings. Crucially, all motorcyclists, including passengers, must wear helmets when traveling. This simple measure significantly reduces the risk of severe head injuries in the event of an accident.
Vietnamese law imposes strict penalties for traffic violations. According to Decree 168 on road traffic offenses, speeding on a motorbike that results in an accident can lead to a fine ranging from 10-14 million VND and a deduction of 10 points from the driver's license. Additionally, failing to wear a helmet, for both rider and passenger, is subject to a fine of 400,000-600,000 VND.
