An accident involving two Montgomery County police officers on motorcycles caused traffic congestion on southbound I-95 in Philadelphia on the morning of 13/11.
Video footage captured from a helicopter flying over the highway showed a group of police motorcyclists participating in an escort for radio station WMMR's Camp Out for Hunger community kitchen event.
As the motorcade passed Washington Avenue just before 8:00 h, one police motorcyclist grazed a broken-down truck near the median. Investigators believe the truck's door opened as the officer passed, causing them to lose control and collide with the vehicle.
The officer fell to the road directly into the path of another officer, who was also struck and fell from their motorcycle. The entire motorcade immediately stopped to provide assistance. Both officers who fell were in stable condition, with their injuries not life-threatening.
