Vietnam's motorcycle market achieved significant growth in 2025, with sales of approximately 3.4 million units, a 14.9% increase over 2024. This figure, encompassing both internal combustion and electric models, positions Vietnam as the second-largest market in Southeast Asia and the fourth globally, trailing only India, China, and Indonesia, according to Motorcycles Data.
Indonesia led Southeast Asia in motorcycle consumption for 2025, with its citizens purchasing approximately 6.5 million units. This represented a modest 0.6% increase compared to 2024.
Following Indonesia and Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia completed the top five largest motorcycle markets in the region. These countries recorded growth rates of 0.7%, 9.8%, and 3.5% respectively. Malaysia, with sales of approximately 610,000 units, held the lowest sales volume among these five major markets.

Vietnam demonstrated the highest sales growth rate among the top five markets, with a 14.9% increase. This surge was primarily driven by the emergence of VinFast in the two-wheeler sector. In 2025, VinFast sold 406,453 units, surpassing Yamaha, which had held the second-place market position for decades. VinFast's sales ranked only behind market leader Honda, which sold over 2.2 million units.
For 2026, VinFast has set an ambitious target to triple its sales to approximately 1.5 million units. Achieving this goal could further expand the Vietnamese motorcycle market. Notably, all motorcycles currently sold by VinFast are pure electric.
A clear correlation exists between the largest motorcycle markets and population size. Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines are the three most populous nations in the region, aligning with their high motorcycle sales.

| Thailand | 621.166 | 1.730.000 | 1/2,8 |
| Vietnam | 604.134 | 3.400.000 | 1/5,6 |
| Philippines | 491.395 | 2.370.000 | 1/4,8 |
Analyzing the demand for these two vehicle types, only Malaysia registered higher car sales than motorcycle sales. In contrast, Vietnam's motorcycle sales were nearly six times greater than its car sales, highlighting a distinct preference for two-wheelers.
