VinFast’s global expansion strategy

US publication CleanTechnica assesses that the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer is undergoing a comprehensive transformation, continuously improving processes and raising standards to build a foundation for global expansion.

In an article for CleanTechnica, Raymond Tribdino, who has over 20 years of experience covering the automotive and technology industries, stated he has visited the VinFast Hai Phong manufacturing complex three times, most recently this year.

During his visit to the Vietnamese automaker’s plant, Raymond observed significant progress in VinFast’s production, research, and development, describing it as a "comprehensive transformation". Citing business reports and financial expert opinions, the CleanTechnica writer noted that VinFast is investing heavily in the immediate future, focusing on three areas: building a showroom network, innovative marketing campaigns, and research and development for new vehicle lines.

"Looking at the past, this is a good investment", Raymond quoted a financial expert, adding that VinFast’s recent report serves as a lesson in strategic spending. He stated, "VinFast is willing to spend upfront to conquer the global electric vehicle market later". CleanTechnica also cited data indicating a strong acceleration in VinFast’s operations.

In the first half of 2025, VinFast delivered 72,167 electric vehicles, a 223% increase year-on-year. Including electric two-wheelers, total production reached 114,484 units, an increase of 447%. The company also announced nearly 400 showrooms worldwide, having delivered 20,380 vehicles in October, bringing the total 10-month deliveries in Vietnam for 2025 to 124,264 units.

Compared to its factory visit in 2022, CleanTechnica noted that VinFast has mastered technology, independently designed battery management systems, researched thermal management capabilities, and gradually developed battery chemistry with international partners. The Vietnamese automaker also uses artificial intelligence to detect micro-defects, shifting quality management from inspection to preventing errors at the source.

Accordingly, in the stamping workshops at the VinFast plant, each machine is calibrated with micrometre-level precision, comparable to leading global automakers. Raymond observed, "In 2022, quality control here occurred at inspection stations, but it is now integrated into every step of the process". He added, "The car body panels leaving the production line in 2025 meet premium vehicle standards. The fit and finish are excellent".

The US news outlet suggested that this transformation is driven by VinFast Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong’s philosophy of "fixing mistakes immediately", a spirit that has permeated the entire system’s operation.
