Chinese tech firm Xiaomi has confirmed "Sky Nomad" as the name for its extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) line, following months of speculation. The first model will be a large SUV, boasting a driving range exceeding 1,500 km.
The introduction of this new product line positions Xiaomi in direct competition with domestic rivals such as Li Auto and Aito, which currently dominate China's family SUV segment.

Domestically, Sky Nomad will be known as "Xiaomi Pengcheng". The company filed the trademark application in 8/2025, according to CnEVPost.
The first Sky Nomad model, internally coded Kunlun N3, is expected to launch as the N90. This large SUV measures over 5.3 meters in length and has a wheelbase exceeding 3.1 meters, as reported by CarNewsChina.
Unlike previous Xiaomi models, the N90 is not a pure electric vehicle. It utilizes a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine as a generator, paired with a battery pack exceeding 70 kWh. This configuration provides an electric-only (EV) range of 400-500 km and a total operational range of over 1,500 km.
This battery capacity is significantly larger than many battery electric vehicles (BEVs) currently on the market. For comparison, the standard Tesla Model Y sold in China uses a 62.5 kWh battery.

Xiaomi has selected Sunwoda and CALB as the two battery suppliers for the Sky Nomad line. Leaked images of the N90 reveal a boxy design, equipped with lidar and electric side steps. The 7-seater variant will include a rooftop camping tent package, directly targeting China's burgeoning outdoor lifestyle trend. The N90 is expected to be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.
The Sky Nomad N90 is scheduled for release in late 2026, with prices starting from USD 29,400. This positions it lower than competitors like the Li Auto L9 and Aito M9, which are both priced above USD 30,000.
