On 12/1, a large waste truck, while in a straight-ahead lane and encountering a red light, signaled a right turn and collided with a motorbike on Tran Thai Tong Street. The truck's sudden braking caused waste to spill onto the motorcyclist and the road. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. Authorities quickly arrived at the scene to manage traffic flow and ensure safety.
This incident highlights the importance of strict adherence to traffic signals and lane markings. Vehicles, especially large trucks, must not make right turns from a straight-ahead lane. Large trucks inherently have significant blind spots, making sudden lane changes particularly hazardous and increasing the risk of collisions with surrounding vehicles.
Road users should actively maintain a safe distance from trucks carrying bulky goods or materials. Many accidents occur when truck drivers fail to properly cover or secure their cargo. It is crucial for trucks transporting construction waste, heavy, or bulky items to be adequately covered and secured to ensure safety for all road users during transit.
According to Decree 100/2019, road users who transport materials without proper covering or allow them to spill onto the road face fines of 2-4 million VND. Additionally, those responsible are obligated to clear any spilled materials or waste from the road immediately.
