Overhead video footage shows a woman exiting a Huawei Aito M9 SUV. After a brief hand gesture, she walks away, leaving the vehicle to reverse and maneuver flawlessly into a parking space without a driver.
The Aito M9 is a three-row SUV designed for the Chinese market, boasting a range of 630-1,239 km and a price tag of 66,300-80,400 USD. Huawei launched the Aito M9 in 2023, aiming to compete with European luxury rivals like the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS.
Aito is a joint venture between Huawei and Seres. The M9 is currently Aito's largest and most expensive model, alongside the M8, M7, and M5. The 2025 M9, launched earlier this year, features 4 Lidar sensors (compared to the previous version's single Lidar) and a starting price of 65,000 USD. It's available in both all-electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.
The 4 Lidar sensors power the advanced driver-assistance system, enabling navigation through complex areas like parking garage gates, roundabouts, and challenging roads. The technology also supports automatic parking, including automatic recognition of inclines, declines, and curves. Another notable feature of the 2025 M9 is the Huawei Galaxy satellite communication module, which allows for continuous phone calls while driving.
The EREV version features a 52 kWh NMC battery, providing an electric range of 290 km under CLTC conditions. A 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine extends the range and delivers 158 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive system with two motors provides a combined output of 489 horsepower, resulting in a total range of 1,474 km.
The all-electric version retains the 100 kWh NMC battery, powering two electric motors with a combined output of 523 horsepower. This version offers a fully electric range of 630 km under CLTC conditions.
