In october, the Mitsubishi Xforce re-entered the sales race with its highest sales volume of the year, 1,854 units. However, rival Toyota Yaris Cross also fiercely competed, selling 1,833 units. Consequently, the sales gap between the Xforce and its compatriot rival did not significantly narrow.
The Xforce offered promotions and discounts, and the Yaris Cross did likewise at dealerships. The sales competition between the two internal combustion engine models remains undecided, but the advantage currently leans towards the Toyota model with two months remaining in 2025.
As of october, the Yaris Cross has sold 1,600 more units than the Xforce. The average monthly sales for these two models are 1,148 units and 988 units, respectively. The Xforce needs significant sales leaps in the final two months of the year, otherwise it will struggle to retain its segment sales crown for a second consecutive year, specifically within the gasoline-powered category.
Alongside the competition between the two Japanese models, the VinFast VF 6 firmly holds the top position. A lead of over 5,000 units against its closest rival ensures the all-electric VinFast model will be the segment's best-seller in its first year of sales reporting. The VF 6 and Yaris Cross collectively capture about one-half of the segment's market share. The VinFast model accounts for 30%, while the Toyota product holds 21%.

Compared to the same period last year, demand for B-segment CUVs surged in the first 10 months of 2025, reaching 55,622 units, a 46% increase, primarily due to the added sales from the VF 6. Focusing solely on the internal combustion engine segment, the entire category sold 38,673 units, a slight 2% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The Toyota Yaris Cross was the gasoline-powered model with the strongest sales growth (37%). Its biggest rival, the Xforce, saw sales decline by 14%. Other models, including the Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta, also experienced sales decreases ranging from 1% to 10%. Only the Mazda CX-3 showed a slight improvement with a 2% sales increase, yet it remains the slowest-selling model in the segment.
The presence of the VF 6 and Japanese rivals like the Yaris Cross and Xforce has left former champions, the Seltos and Creta, with no chance of entering the top-selling group in 2025. This is because the sales gap between the best-selling Korean model, the Creta, and the third-place Xforce, is over 3,700 units.
