The YU7 GT's achievement at Nurburgring, one of the automotive industry's most closely watched benchmark tracks, has surpassed the previous record for production SUVs. Its lap time of 7 minutes 34,931 seconds is nearly two seconds faster than the 7 minutes 36,698 seconds set by the Audi RS Q8 Performance in 2024. Before that, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Coupe held the record with 7 minutes 38,925 seconds in 2021.
Xiaomi has not yet disclosed the full technical specifications of the YU7 GT tested at Nurburgring. Automakers frequently use this demanding track to validate the performance of their high-performance models.
In announcing the YU7 GT's feat, Xiaomi also stated that its chief test driver, Ren Zhoucan, has become the first Chinese driver to receive Nurburgring track certification.

The Xiaomi YU7 GT is scheduled for its official launch in China today, 21/5, at 7 p.m. Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, previously described the YU7 GT as a "purebred GT" high-performance SUV. The YU7 GT is already being delivered to dealerships across China ahead of its debut event.
The YU7 GT's record builds on Xiaomi's Nurburgring performance campaign, which began with the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sedan. In 6/2025, the SU7 Ultra set a production electric vehicle record at Nurburgring, completing a lap in 6 minutes 22,091 seconds, making it the third fastest officially recognized production car on the track at that time.
Positioned as a high-performance electric SUV, the YU7 GT boasts a power output of up to 990 hp. Xiaomi previously announced its top speed at 300 km/h and a CLTC range of 705 km.
The YU7 GT utilizes a new HyperEngine V8S EVO powertrain system, representing a significant upgrade over the previous V8S engine. This engine achieves a maximum speed of 28,000 rpm and incorporates a self-developed silicon carbide (SiC) power module, increasing power output by 5.9%. It also features 0.15 mm ultra-thin silicon steel sheets, with a stated efficiency of 98.38%.
The SUV's chassis has been fine-tuned on the Nurburgring, featuring CDC dual-valve dampers with independent compression and rebound control, sealed dual-chamber air springs with adjustable height and stiffness, and an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) for quicker torque distribution between the rear wheels.
The YU7 GT is a five-seater electric crossover with dimensions of 5,015 x 2,007 x 1,597 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It is 42 mm longer, 21 mm narrower, and 8 mm taller than the Ferrari Purosangue.
It features an all-wheel drive (AWD) system with two motors: a 386 hp motor at the front and a 604 hp motor at the rear, resulting in a combined output of 990 hp. A 101,7 kWh battery provides a CLTC range of 705 km. Xiaomi has not yet disclosed the 0-100 km/h acceleration time.
