The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced on 16/10 the appointment of Scott Roberts as its new country director for Vietnam.
In his new capacity, Roberts will represent ADB in policy dialogue and partnerships, guiding the implementation of the Country Partnership Strategy in Vietnam. This strategy prioritizes green and inclusive growth, enhancing resilience to disasters, and fostering a more competitive, private sector-driven economy.
Roberts committed that the bank will continue to support Vietnam in achieving its green and inclusive growth objectives. This will be realized through financing infrastructure, promoting innovation, and mobilizing private capital.
Roberts, a US national, brings over 27 years of international development experience, including 16 years with ADB. Before this appointment, he served as the bank's Head of ASEAN Grid and Special Funds, overseeing the coordination of a USD 10 billion investment aimed at strengthening regional connectivity across Southeast Asia.
His academic background includes a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prior to joining ADB, he established the Beijing branch for the consulting firm Cambridge Energy Research Associates (now part of S&P Global) and held the position of Vice President for energy investment at GE Capital.
