Operations are expected to commence in Q4 this year at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), where Amazon has leased Air Cargo Building Four from the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA). This strategic move marks Amazon's first dedicated air cargo facility in Northeast Florida.
This new facility is a significant step in Amazon's expansion strategy for Northeast Florida, US, further bolstering its existing logistics and distribution network in Jacksonville. Mark VanLoh, Chief Executive Officer of JAA, noted that Amazon is one of Jacksonville's largest employers, with numerous sorting centers located within or near the city's four airports.
Owen Torres, an Amazon spokesperson, expressed the company's enthusiasm for partnering with JAA to meet customer demand across Northeast Florida. He highlighted Amazon's investment of over 45 billion USD in Florida since 2010, stating that this lease reinforces its commitment to providing fast, reliable deliveries to customers in the region.
Amazon will use the Air Cargo Building Four, which spans approximately 4,645 square meters of warehouse and distribution space on a 19,020 square meter plot, to store and process air cargo. The company plans to fully utilize the building upon completion of renovations.
