According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the 10,000 newly inaugurated apartments constitute the fourth and final phase of a plan to construct 50,000 housing units in the capital by the end of 2025. The nation began this construction project in early 2021.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the project. The event featured fireworks, confetti, and thousands of balloons released into the sky.

Ri Il-hwan, secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, stated that the 50,000-apartment construction plan in Pyongyang had exceeded its target. KCNA reported that 60,000 apartments were built across the Songshin, Songhwa, and Hwasong districts. Within just five years, Pyongyang's appearance has rapidly transformed.
Following the ceremony, Kim Jong-un met with families, wishing them happiness in their newly allocated homes. The North Korean leader also toured the new neighborhood in Hwasong district.
The North Korean leader stated that the upcoming 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea would set more ambitious and groundbreaking goals, ushering in an "exciting five-year journey" for the nation.
