The Ho Chi Minh City Asset Auction Service Center recently announced the successful conclusion of both auctions for Truong My Lan's "albino" Hermes bags, held on the morning of 21/5.
The second auction, featuring a Hermes bag of size 25 adorned with white stones on its lock and trim, drew 119 bids. The winning bid for this bag reached 11,6 billion VND, significantly surpassing its starting price of 1,7 billion VND. This successful sale highlights the intense demand for such rare items.
In the first auction, a white Hermes bag of size 30 received four bids. It was ultimately sold for 2,54 billion VND, which was 200 million VND higher than its initial asking price. The Ho Chi Minh City Asset Auction Service Center has not yet disclosed the identity of the successful bidders.
According to auction regulations, the successful bidder must complete payment in two installments within 30 days from today. Prior to the auction, all participants were required to deposit 20% of the starting price for the items.

This event marks one of the few civil judgment enforcement asset auctions to succeed on its initial attempt, with winning bids significantly surpassing starting prices. In contrast, previous auctions for other assets belonging to Truong My Lan, such as a yacht and a ship, failed to attract buyers, necessitating reduced starting prices for subsequent re-auctions.
The two Hermes bags were seized and confiscated during the second phase of the case involving Van Thinh Phat Group. The Ho Chi Minh City Civil Judgment Enforcement Department is currently the legal owner of these assets.
During a court session in late September 2024, Truong My Lan stated that one of the albino crocodile Hermes bags was purchased in Italy, while the other was a gift from a Malaysian billionaire. "Their value is negligible compared to my frozen assets, but I request their return as keepsakes for my descendants," Lan said.
These specific bag models have been favored by numerous renowned celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, and Victoria Beckham.
