Financial reports for Q2 indicate that Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company (BMP) achieved revenue of nearly 1,320 billion Vietnamese Dong, an increase of over 9% compared to the same period last year. After deducting cost of goods sold, gross profit reached nearly 617 billion Vietnamese Dong, representing a gross profit margin of approximately 46.7%.
BMP also generated over 28 billion Vietnamese Dong in financial revenue, an increase of nearly 11%. This income primarily stemmed from deposit interest, as the company held nearly 1,600 billion Vietnamese Dong in bank savings.
Operating expenses generally decreased during this period. Selling expenses saw the most significant reduction, while financial and corporate management expenses slightly increased.
In total, BMP recorded an after-tax profit of over 367 billion Vietnamese Dong, an improvement of over 11% compared to Q2 of 2025. This figure represents a record quarterly profit for the company.
For the first half of the year, the company's cumulative revenue reached nearly 2,777 billion Vietnamese Dong, with after-tax profit exceeding 671 billion Vietnamese Dong. These figures represent increases of 3% and 9% respectively compared to the first six months of the previous year.
This year, BMP aims to achieve 6,053 billion Vietnamese Dong in revenue and 1,278 billion Vietnamese Dong in after-tax profit. The company has currently completed nearly 46% of its revenue target and over 52.5% of its profit plan.
Binh Minh Plastics has operated for over 50 years, originating as a state-owned enterprise. It stands as one of Vietnam's leading plastics companies, recognized for its household and high-tech products used in numerous national projects.
In 2018, Nawaplastic, a subsidiary of Thailand's SCG Group, gained controlling interest by acquiring 24.2 million BMP shares from the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC). SCG's subsidiary had previously become a major shareholder in Vietnam's largest listed plastics company in 2012. It is estimated that Nawaplastic spent a total of approximately 2,750 billion Vietnamese Dong to acquire its current stake in BMP.
Favorable business performance has enabled Binh Minh Plastics to maintain a consistent history of cash dividend payouts. Since the Thai shareholder's investment, the company has consistently distributed profits to shareholders, with dividend rates ranging from a low of 20% to a high of 126%. Cumulatively, from 2012 to the present, Nawaplastic has received over 3,200 billion Vietnamese Dong in total dividends. This means that from dividends alone, they have realized a profit of approximately 18.5% on this transaction.
On the stock market, Binh Minh Plastics shares traded at 151,600 Vietnamese Dong per unit as of last weekend. Consequently, the value of BMP shares held by SCG's subsidiary is now over 6,800 billion Vietnamese Dong, 2.5 times the initial capital invested.
