Bamboo Airways welcomed its first Airbus A320 aircraft on 13/12, marking a significant step in its recovery and expansion plans. The aircraft landed at Noi Bai airport after completing its inaugural commercial flight as part of the airline's fleet. This addition comes more than two months after the airline returned under the management of FLC Group in late September.
Truong Phuong Thanh, CEO of Bamboo Airways, emphasized that expanding the fleet size is a key foundation for the airline to increase flight frequency, broaden its route network, and enhance operational efficiency. The airline currently operates 8 narrow-body aircraft. At its peak, Bamboo Airways previously operated 30 aircraft, including an intercontinental wide-body fleet.
The company aims to restore its fleet to a total of 30 aircraft. For the medium term, Bamboo Airways plans to add 8-10 aircraft annually to accelerate the development of its flight network until 2030.

With the new aircraft, Bamboo Airways anticipates a 16% increase in supply capacity during the upcoming Lunar New Year period. This expansion will also enable the reopening of several routes, including TP HCM - Vinh, Thanh Hoa, and Hai Phong. In the first 11 months of the year, the airline achieved an on-time performance rate of 88,8%.
At an extraordinary meeting last November, Bui Hai Huyen, CEO of FLC, stated that the group is actively collaborating with experienced domestic and international partners. These collaborations focus on aircraft leasing-purchase and financial solutions to secure investment capital for Bamboo Airways.
Other domestic airlines are also rapidly adding aircraft to prepare for the year-end peak season. Vietjet Air plans to add 7 Airbus aircraft and 2 Comac aircraft to continue operations on the Con Dao route. On 11/12, newcomer Sun PhuQuoc Airways also received its 5th Airbus aircraft.
