Carrier Transicold recently announced a new update to its Lynx Fleet telematics platform. The update offers significant improvements in data analysis, remote diagnostics, and location and temperature monitoring for transport refrigeration units.
With these new features, Lynx Fleet not only enhances the ability to track the performance of transport refrigeration units (TRUs) but also helps manage fleets more efficiently. It does this through API integration, support for new sensor technologies, and compatibility with dry vans, power units, and systems from other manufacturers.
"The Lynx Fleet platform has elevated refrigeration unit monitoring and control with unprecedented data depth, allowing for superior performance optimization," said James Brand, Senior Director of Digital Products for Lynx Fleet, in a press release. "Now, fleet managers can make decisions based on real-world performance regarding operation, maintenance, and cold chain compliance."
Highlights of the new Lynx Fleet features:
TRU Health – proactive "health checks" for refrigeration units: The TRU Health feature allows users to manage and maintain equipment based on its actual condition, rather than relying on scheduled appointments or manual checks. The intuitive dashboard interface summarizes key indicators such as battery voltage, fuel level, operating alerts, engine run time, continuous and intermittent operating time, and door opening parameters. Data is also compared with thousands of other units on Carrier's network to provide context and support more accurate assessments.

New telematics module design for the North American market: The new module supports combined cellular and satellite connectivity and is equipped with a backup battery that provides continuous data for up to 10 days, even without power from the vehicle. The system can integrate up to 5 temperature sensors for multi-zone refrigerated vehicles and uses CAN bus and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology for faster and more stable connections.
Support for mixed fleets from multiple manufacturers: Lynx Fleet can now track GPS, temperature, and telematics information for dry vans and equipment from other manufacturers. This helps customers with mixed fleets (various equipment from multiple suppliers) avoid the hassle and expense of managing multiple telematics platforms.
Open API for easy integration into transport management systems: The new API toolkit allows data sharing from Lynx Fleet to most common transport management systems. This provides a comprehensive overview of all refrigerated assets, even when using TRUs from other brands, creating a seamless management experience and standardized data for users.
Compatible with all-electric refrigeration units: Lynx Fleet is developed to work effectively with electric refrigeration units such as Carrier Transicold's eCool eTRU product line. The platform can monitor voltage, temperature, charge cycles, and battery history, which is important in managing high-power electrical equipment.
Flexible installation and expansion of peripheral devices: Lynx Fleet equipment is now standard on the X4 and Vector 8000 series for trailers and rail, and can be retrofitted to existing equipment lines. Customers can add components such as fuel sensors, temperature probes, door switches, and solar panels as needed.
Using Lynx Fleet requires a data plan subscription and activation by an authorized Carrier Transicold dealer.
Carrier Transicold, a US company of Carrier Global Corporation, specializes in providing transport refrigeration units, a critical part of the logistics system for preserving goods such as food, medicine, and frozen goods. Developed by Carrier Transicold, the Lynx Fleet platform is a modern telematics solution that allows businesses to monitor the temperature, location, and operating status of refrigeration units in real time.
This platform upgrade not only helps operators proactively monitor and maintain equipment but also optimizes transport efficiency and ensures product quality throughout the journey, a core requirement in the growing cold chain logistics industry.
